Rhandee Garlitos: The Story Teller (Computer Science)

Raymund “Rhandee” Magno Garlitos was born on the 13th day of January 1978. Mr. Garlitos studied grade school in GSIS Elementary School, he finished High School at La Salle Greenhills as a Ninoy Aquino Scholar then finally he took up BS Computer Science. During his he became the first ever poetry editor of the Malate Literary Folio. Also, he has received numerous awards including four Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature.

His career started when he was 18, still in college, Rhandee Garlitos wrote his first children’s book called, Ang Paglalakbay ni Pepito Piso, which was illustrated by an art staffer colleague in Malate Literary Folio. He wrote this to join a children’s book making contest by a publishing company, he won the contest and they published his book.

Currently he has already written nine children’s books and translated over ten books. One of his most famous children’s books written in 1999 under Adarna House is called “Chenelyn! Chenelyn!,” which was illustrated by Liza Flores. The book received the 2000 Gintong Aklat Award, Best Children’s Book and 1998 PBBY-Salanga Prize Honorable Mention.
